Amalgam removal is necessary when the restoration is breaking down or has decay around the edges. The in office, one appointment treatment starts by getting you comfortable with anesthetic. Then, the amalgam and any decay present is removed and a beautiful tooth colored restoration that brightens your teeth is placed.
The material is used is composite, which is placed on top of a clean, well prepared tooth. Bonding and desensitizing agents are placed to help extend the longevity of the restoration. Composite as with any other material in the mouth, may have to be replaced after several years.
